These pre-cut Pinewood derby designs make building your car as easy as ABC!

Tip #2

Pinewood Derby cars are faster if only three wheels touch the track. There is less friction with 3 wheels rolling than 4. Raise a front wheel by 1/16 inch. Use the slowest wheel/axle combination as the raised wheel. How to Raise a front wheel.

Tip #7

Air drag is a very minor factor in your Pinewood Derby car's speed. Friction from the wheels and axles easily overwhelm the small amount of air drag. Select a design that you like rather than one with low drag.

Tip #43

Before you install the wheels on your car, grind the end of a new pencil eraser in some graphite then rub the graphite on your car in a 1/2 inch diameter area where the axles will go into the car. This will reduce friction when the wheel rubs against the car body.

These pre-cut designs give you a head start in building your Pinewood Derby car. The hard cuts have been made. All you need to do is sand and paint the car. You can modify the basic design of the car with a wood rasp.

All of our pre-cut Pinewood Derby designs are also available with the weights pre-installed. The cars will weigh between 4.8 and 5 oz when finished depending on the paint and accessories added. We recommend that you use our Stick-On Weights to fine tune your car's weight to 5 oz.

I wanted to send you a picture of a pre cut car we bought from you recently.

I need to write and say Thank You! My son and I (Mom) entered into the pine wood derby race on Saturday 1/25. This is our first year in cub scouts, and never did the pine wood derby before.
