Car Blocks with Standard Wheelbase

All of the car blocks on this page are from official Awana kits. We check each block and reject any with axle slots that are not true. Most of the blocks that we offer are also available pre-weighted so that your car will weigh 5 oz after you paint it and add wheels and axles

Car Blocks With Extended Wheelbase

Extended Wheel Spacing Advantage

The axles on our extended blocks are placed as close to the edge of the block as possible without exceeding the seven inch maximum car length rule.  An extended wheelbase makes the car more stable and allows placement of the weights farther toward the rear of the car giving the car more speed. Extended wheelbase cars are not legal in all races. Please check your rules before ordering an extended wheelbase

Car Blocks With Axle Holes

Blocks with axle holes have fewer problems with wheel alignment and the axles are easier to install in holes.  Our blocks also have the option of one axle slightly higher than the rest (raised wheel) which allows the car to run on 3 wheels resulting in faster speeds.  Axle holes are not legal in all races. Please check your rules before ordering a block with axle holes.

Unmodified Wheels

Awana Lathed Wheels

These wheels are the same wheels included in the Awana kit without modification. Great replacements for broken or lost wheels.

Lathed Wheels

Awana Lathed Wheels
These wheels have the following modifications:
  • The inside edge of the wheel rim is tapered. Reduces friction when the wheel rubs against the center guide rail.
  • The tread is lathed to remove all bumps and other imperfections and to make the wheel round within 0.001 inch.
  • Made by Awana®

Lathed Wheels - Graphite Coated

Awana Graphite Wheel
These wheels are the same as our Awana Lathed Wheels but graphite has been bonded to the friction areas of the wheel as shown. Not for use with our graphite coated axles.

Ultra Lite Wheels

Awana Ultra Lite Wheel
This is our fastest wheel.  Every friction generating area of this wheel has been reduced to the minimum. In addition to all of the modifications of our lathed wheels, the hub is reamed straight and plastic is removed from the inside of this wheel for the most possible weight reduction.

Axles for Awana Cars

Unmodified Axles

Awana Car Polished Axles
These axles are the same axles included in the Awana kit without modification. Can be used as replacements for broken or lost axles.

Polished Axles

Awana Car Polished Axles

These axles have the following modifications:

  • Heads have been tapered back slightly to reduce friction between the wheel and axles.
  • Axle is machine polished to a very fine mirror finish for minimum friction and maximum speed.

Polished Axles Graphite Coated

Awana Polished Axles with graphite coating
This is our polished axles with our special process that bonds a thin film of graphite to the axle.  The graphite will last over 20 races. You should add loose graphite for even more speed. Not for use with our graphite coated wheels.

Polished Grooved Axles

Same as our polished axles but we add a groove for less contact between axle and wheel (the groove also holds graphite during the race).

Our grooved polished axle with our bonding process to give the axle a thin graphite layer. Not for use with our graphite coated wheels.
