Lightly Sanded BSA Wheels
This wheel should be legal in pinewood derby races that
specify any of the following:
-
Wheel diameter must be greater than 1.18".
-
Wheels must be the original shape as packaged in
the Official Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby Kit. (Wheels must
not be peaked, ‘H’ed,
humped, tapered, or narrowed.
-
The only work allowable to any
wheel is to remove manufacturing defects such as burrs or injection
flanges.
-
Wheels may be sanded until the mold seam is
removed. Wheels are not to be turned on a lathe, completely smoothed
or modified. Some of the original surface must still be visible.
-
Wheels
may not be tapered or rounded. The wheels may be slightly
sanded to remove any mold marks but may not be modified in any other
way.
-
Only the Official Scout Grand Prix wheels may be
used. Wheels may be sanded (smoothed to remove
knit/mold lines) but the wheel’s
profile may not be altered. Wheels that have been turned
to create a reduced contact patch (beveling, tapering, thin
sanding, wafering or lathe turning) as
determined by caliper readings (and, or visual observation
by committee officials, decision final) are
prohibited.
-
Wheels may be lightly sanded and polished to remove imperfections.
This light sanding and polishing is the only wheel modification
allowed.
And similar rules.
