If you are in a rush, use a hair dryer to speed up the paint drying. Keep the dryer at least 6 inches from the paint and use constant movements. This technique also works on glue.

EZ Cut Tungsten Weights

  • Tungsten compound - Same density as lead but non toxic
  • Easy to cut and sand
  • Two pieces. Each is 1 oz
  • 3/8" diameter X 1 1/2" long
  • Can be painted
  • 3/8" drill bit and glue or wood putty required
EZ Weight Instructions

Fig 1 - Drill 3/8" holes in the location that you want to add the weights (near the rear of the pinewood derby car is recommended).
Fig 2 - Cut the weights so that the car weighs 5 oz. with a hobby knife or small saw.
Fig 3 - Smooth cut edge with sandpaper.

Insert in drilled hole and glue or plug with wood putty.
