How to Add Tungsten weights to your Pinewood Derby Car
Tungsten Squares
Each square weighs .13 ozDimension: 3/8: X 3/8" X 1/8"
Total weight: .5 oz
These weights can be easily added to your car to bring it up to the 5 oz maximum. Tungsten is better than lead because it is about 1.7 times heavier so you can put more weight right where you want it. For the greatest speed, add the weights near the back of the car. Tungsten is non-toxic and there are no sharp edges.
Each square has a tapered edge to better
blend the squares with
the design of the car.
These tungsten weights can be glued to various places on your car or they can be inserted in slots cut with a 1/8" thick blade such as a table saw (seal the slot with wood putty after the weights are inserted).
Use super glue to attach the weights. You can add the weight before or after painting your car.
