Tungsten Bar for Your Pinewood Derby Car
Tungsten Bar Weight
1/4” thick x 1/2” wide x 1 1/2” long
Each bar weighs 2.2 oz
This tungsten bar can be installed behind the rear axle. The only tool needed is a saw. It can also be mounted anywhere on the car by cutting a slot for it with a router.
Instructions for installing one bar behind the rear axle:
1. Draw a 1/2" x 1/4" rectangle on both sides of the car at the rear edge of the car.
2. Draw a straight line on the bottom of the car connecting the two 1/2" lines.
3. Use the lines as a guide to cut out the rear corner of the car. This is where the Tungsten Bar will be installed.
4. Cut 1/8" off of both ends of the piece of wood that you removed from the car block. These pieces will be used to fill in the sides of the weight.
5. Place the weight in the cutout and check for proper fit.
6. Center the weight in the cutout and glue it in place.
7. Glue the two ends on both sides of the weight.
8. Sand the two ends flush with the side of the car.
