Pinewood derby tungsten weights are easy to cut.

If you are in a rush, use a hair dryer to speed up the paint drying. Keep the dryer at least 6 inches from the paint and use constant movements. This technique also works on glue.

These weights have the same density as lead and are non toxic

EZ Cut Tungsten Weights

Tungsten compound - Same density as lead but non toxic

Easy to cut and sand

Two pieces. Each is 1 oz

3/8" diameter X 1 1/2" long

Can be painted

3/8" drill bit and glue or wood putty required

Fig 1 - Drill 3/8" holes in the location that you want to add the weights (near the rear of the pinewood derby car is recommended).
Fig 2 - Cut the weights so that the car weighs 5 oz. with a hobby knife or small saw.
Fig 3 - Smooth cut edge with sandpaper.

Insert in drilled hole and glue or plug with wood putty.
